Hello readers !
This week I learned about cell cycle and pollination of plants! I DONT REALLY LIKE TO STUDY IT BEFORE because i cant see the process clearly contrast to animals and humans.Do you know what is cell cycle? Cell cycle is an ordered set of events, resulting in cell growth and cell division into two daughter cell.
At the end of this topic, I can differentiate the stages of cell cycle, apply it to plant growth and development, define totipotency and its types and relate cell cycle mechanism with plant totipotency. This is not the first time i heard about totipotency because I already learnt about it during foundation.
Cell cycle is one of my favorite topic which is the main function of this cell cycle is to replace lost or damaged cells and allow organism to grow.
Cell cycle can be divided into 4 phase which is the interphase that consist of G1 followed by S phase and G2 and M phase and cytokinesis. meanwhile M phase divided by two types which is mitosis and meiosis. M phase also can be divided into 4 stages prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase.
Totipotency is the ability of a single cell to divide and produced all of the differentiated cells in organism.
the scl activity that we had done in our lecture which is very interesting and a little bit difficult for us that we need to brainstorming together. THE VENN DIAGRAM REALLY HELPFUL ! i love the "shopping market" scene when all of us ran forward to write the answer on the whiteboard. It is quite funny.
The pollination is the transfer of the pollen to the part of the seed plant containing the ovule.
pollination also include two type of embryogenesis which is zygotic embryogenesis and somatic embryogenesis.
The activities that we had done in this lecture is very simple and easy for me to understand more about the cell cycle, totipotency and pollination. before this, i never heard anything about totipotency. but when i learned about it, it gets more interesting and i can gain more knowledge about plant development.
On Thursday which is 1 hour class, Dr. Parameswari instruct us to answer the quiz in PutraBlast. WOWWWWWWWWWWWW POP QUIZ !!! luckily , i got 16/20 questions correct which are 80%. YEAY im so happy. From this quiz, i concluded that we must use the correct and specific term ((( must really care about the spelling ) . I mispelling LYSOGENY as LYSOGENIC . Then i got wrong ( so frustated ).
I felt very happy with my progression nowadays. Thats all from me ! See you next week :)

WEEK 3
Hello readers !
During third week, I learnt about cell theory, prokaryotic cell, virus, viroid and prion. This topic is very familiar to me because of my foundation background and help me recalling and installing my memory about basic because I already forget everything . hehehe . The Cell Theory is one of the basic principles of biology.
((((( Credit for the formulation of this theory is given to German scientists Theodor Schwann, Matthias Schleiden, and Rudolph Virchow.)))
The Cell Theory states:
1)All living organisms are composed of cells. They may be unicellular or multicellular.
2)The cell is the basic unit of life.
3)Cells arise from pre-existing cells. Cell divided by two Eukaryotic and prokaryotic cell.
I also learnt about the bacterial shape.
Another things that I learnt is about virus, viroid and prion. Virus is something unique that being held between living and non-living thing. It require host cell to show the living thing properties and I learnt about the properties of virus, classification of virus and how the reproduce.
These picture are the example for virus (HIV virus and Bacteriophage). They consist of 2 major part which are protein coat and heredity material (either DNA or RNA). Below, is the life cycle for virus. Without the host, they can't show the virulency. To maintain their existence, they undergo lysogeny and lytic cycle. For lysogeny, they remain dormant until suitable condition before the lytic occur.
Viroid is a smallest infectious pathogens known, consisting solely of short strands of circular, single-stranded RNA without protein coats. Viroid is a plant virus.
The potato is one of the example of viroid infection. Another thing I learnt is prion. Prion is infectious protein that effect nervous system. Prion causes mad cow disease, kuru, scrapie. It is dangerous.
The cow that being infected by Prion. Mad cow disease (BSE).
Another example for prion infection- Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease. For this week topic is really broad. What I learnt this week is just basic. I need to read a lot about this topic from different sources. In opinion, I love this week topic because I can get many new knowledge. Dr Parameswari always share with us some interesting story. Before this, my mind only focused on VIRUS ONLY, TO BE HONEST, I DONT EVEN KNOW ABOUT VIROID AND PRION. now , i already know. Thanks to this subject for providing me the info.

WEEK 2
Hello readers,
So for the second entry, I would like to share my second week in this BSM 3101 class . Before I've been exposed to the contents of history and origin outline, I'm thinking "oh no, it must be a boring class because we're going to learn about history and kind of thing again" No, I would say that i'm absolutely wrong. In Dr Parameswari class, we had so much fun because we learn theory about cells and how it evolve and within same time we learnt and gained knowledge.
For my second week in learning BSM 3001, I learnt about History of life. This topic conveys about the condition of earth for billions years age. That is true that our beloved Earth is extremely old. I feel amazed. The Evolution theory is being applied in this topic. What I have learnt here in this topic is Evolution is Real. The Earth was the first to start the evolution form anoxic to oxic ! The evolution of Earth is slow but continuosly until now. What I learnt in this topic the progress of earth evolution from billions years ago. The scientist pictured condition Earth in 4 billion years ago is chaos and inhabit place. There is no oxygen and no life at all during that time. The condition of earth is very unstable with a lot of natural uncontrollable disasters occur frequently.
The picture is used to pictured the condition of Earth in early age. Very unstable and not suitable to live. In this second week's topic, I learnt about how the 'life' is being created. Life is begin with a simple inorganic molecules in the atmosphere resulted from the natural disasters occured.
The picture shows the evolution of atmosphere and the begining in how the life is created. From inorganic molecules to oranic molecules and becomes more complex and keep increasing the complexity till the life is created.
The timeline of early organisms start to exist. For this evolution,in how the organic molecules formed there is two theory which is 1) Comet theory and 2) Prebiotic broth hypothesis theory. The comet theory stated that the first organic molecule come from outer space. But this theory have no prove.
The prebiotic broth hypothesis evidence which conducted by Miller and Urey. I nearly forgot to mention another thing that I learnt in week 2 that related to week 1 topic which is "Selection in Action". It is a lecture video all about Evolution Theory.
We have used the technology such as Youtube to view 2 video and been exposed to many kind of education's ways of learning such as mind map. We also get COMPLICATED ASSIGNMENT . Haha , we need to create cartoon on how the evolution. So, me and my fellow group members draw Lithipodius Nulla, a simple creature at the sandy-like environment. Im not a good drawer and I take part on creating storyline and make the script for the character. I also blod the drawing and colour the cartoon. I AM VERY PROUD BECAUSE THIS IS MY FIRST EXPERIENCE TO FINISH THE CARTOON . HAHAHAHA.
So, one of the interesting fact in this week lecture is to know how old scientest classify organisms. Furthermore, we also got to know many kinds of species that we are not familiar with. Even we have heard their name before, but we did not know the special characteristics of the them.
I love to know facts and like to discover things that caught my attention and make me curious to know. After class, I open the Youtube to get some extra information about evolution. Many facts about origin have been exposed in the second week of lecture. I hope, I can learn the next topic with more interesting facts beside only learn based on the notes. I think, that's all for my second entry. Thanks for reading!
